Bidders for Air Force Equipment Upgrades down to 3
Thursday, Jan 22, 2009
The Defense Ministry has announced three preferred candidates for a $7.2 million tender to upgrade the Indonesian Air Force’s aging C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.
Ministry secretary general Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that out of eight bidders, Malaysia-based Aerod, Canada’s Standard Aero and England’s Rolls Royce would be invited to Jakarta to discuss their bids with the Billing Management Center, which has the final say on military procurements. The center was established by the ministry in 2005 in a bid to limit corruption relating to the purchase of military hardware.
